Seniors - Buy Back & Google Drive Export

Senior Chromebook Buy Back

While many of you were looking forward to buying back the Chromebook you’ve used for your high school education, we are sorry to tell you that the Senior Buy-Back Chromebook Program has been suspended.

After the district received guidance from the Washington State Auditor’s Office, it was decided that we were no longer able to continue with the program at this time. This program was a two-year initiative that allowed graduates to purchase their Chromebook at a reduced price before offering them for sale to the general public.

While we are very disappointed that this program will no longer be offered to our graduates, we recognize the concerns raised by the State Auditor’s Office. We will continue to explore ways that a similar program can be offered to our graduates in the future.

End of Access to Google Accounts for Seniors

As you prepare to graduate from high school, you should be aware that all the data in your school Google account (Google Drive, Gmail, Blogs, Sites, etc.) will be archived in September, and you will no longer be able to access it.

If there are any important data that you wish to save, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to https://www.google.com/takeout
  2. Select Drive, and any other services where you keep data, by placing a check next to them: Screenshot of how to export a copy of your Google Drive: Select the Drive Icon to export the data.
  3. Click Next
  4. Click Create Archive
  5. You will receive an email with a link to a zip file with all your data — this will take some time!
  6. Access your school Gmail from your personal device to download all your data.

Your Google Docs will all be converted to Microsoft Office format, so you may see some formatting errors in your exported documents. Google Forms will be saved as web pages.
