4301 - Video Equipment on School Buses

The Edmonds School District Board of Directors authorizes the use of video recording equipment on District-operated school buses for the purpose of reducing discipline problems and to provide a safer environment for the transportation of students. The recording of the transportation environment can provide school/District administrators, school bus drivers, and parents/guardians with documentation when dealing with inappropriate behavior.

Students who violate rules of conduct on Edmonds School District buses, as contained in Policy 8245 and related procedures, are subject to disciplinary action in accordance with Policy 8245-R2 when such violations are witnessed by the bus driver or other witnesses and/or recorded on District video cameras.

The superintendent or designee will develop procedures concerning the use and retention of video recordings and signage concerning installation and use of video equipment.
