It is the policy of Edmonds School District to consider acceptance of gifts which serve to enhance and/or extend the purpose and/or function of the schools. District representatives shall suggest to those who desire to make contributions to consider equipment, materials, services, or student aid that are not likely to be acquired from public fund expenditures.

Items intended for continued use by the district must be donated outright by a letter from the organization or individual to the superintendent or designee. The district will not accept custody of items that are not donated outright. (This does not, however, preclude the temporary, incidental use of items loaned by individuals or outside organizations.)

Individuals or organizations desiring to contribute gifts should meet with the building administrator or other appropriate district official to determine the acceptability of such contributions in advance of solicitation of funds or budgetary commitment. The individuals or groups making donations may stipulate a particular use or range of uses for equipment or materials, which, if accepted by the administrator designated by the superintendent to receive such gifts, will continue in effect unless there is a written release by the donating individual or group. The district retains the right to not accept donations.

Equipment and/or materials donated to the district schools becomes the property of the district and are subject to the same controls and regulations that govern the use of other district owned property.
